Governor Urmila Singh presided over the Golden Jubilee Raising Day function of Himachal Pradesh Home Guards and Civil Defence at Raj Bhawan here today.

Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal was also present on the occasion. Urmila Singh released ‘News Digest’ an in-house journal, of Himachal Pradesh Home Guards and Civil Defence and also unveiled the hoardings displaying rescue operation and fire fighting on this occasion.

Governor also awarded the Governor’s Golden Jubilee Trophy to 6th Battalion, Mandi as the Best Battalion, which was received by Major (Retd.) Khem Singh, Commandant 6th Battalion, Mandi. A Memento was also presented to the Governor and Chief Minister on the occasion.

Earlier B.Kamal Kumar, DGP Home Guards Himachal Pradesh welcomed the Governor and Chief Minister. Rakesh Kumar, Sr. Staff Officer, Himachal Pradesh Home Guards and Civil Defence proposed the vote of thanks.

Suresh Bhardwaj, MLA, I.D. Bhandari DGP, Sanjay Chauhan, Mayor and Tikender Panwar, Deputy Mayor, Municipal Corporation Shimla, P.C. Dhiman, Principal Secretary Home, other Senior Civil, Police and Home Guards Officers were present on the occasion among other.
