Villagers of Bhalakh gram panchayat of Nurpur sub-division and relatives of ex-panchayat pradhan Shashi Pal Sharma, whose naked body with injury marks on private parts had been found at Ganoh on October 30, submitted memorandums to the local SDM and the DSP against the alleged tardy police investigations into this murder case.

Villagers in their memorandums expressed dissatisfaction over the ongoing investigations into the murder case and alleged that the police was probing it under the influence of an influential person. They demanded the fair probe and early arrest of culprits; they warned an agitation if police failed to meet their demand.

During police investigations five accused had been arrested, out of whom four were released on bail on Sunday after five-day police remand. Now only Harbans Lal, a forest guard, is in police custody. The villagers also suspect the destruction of concrete evidence by the culprits. They also question the bailing out of four of the five accused.

Meanwhile, DSP Rajinder Jaswal said after receiving the memorandum he had directed the SHO to ensure a fair and thorough investigation into the case.
