In an accident near Slappar on the Sundernagar-Bilaspur stretch of the National Highway 21, two women passengers were killed and 35 others were injured. The three passengers were stated critical and rushed to the PGI, Chandigarh, whereas five patients were admitted to the Civil Hospital, Sundernagar, while 17 other injured passengers were admitted to the Regional Hospital, Bilaspur, and were reported to be out of danger.

Accident happened when both speeding private bus (HP-69-4201) of Jalpa bus service and oil tanker coming from the opposite direction collided and after the collision, the bus plunged into a 100 feet-deep gorge near Slappar. Accident happened around 3.15 pm. The bus carrying 37 passengers was on its way from Bilaspur to Sundernagar.
