The Divisional Commissioner, Mandi, has stayed the order of the suspension of Pushpa Devi, president, Jangla gram panchayat under Jhandutta Development Block in this district.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ritesh Chauhan had suspended the president from her post and ordered her to hand over the charge to the secretary of the panchayat. This order was challenged by Pushpa in the Divisional Commissioner’s court alleging, among other things, that her suspension was based on political considerations and not on facts.
The DC had taken action under rules and the Panchayati Raj Act after an enquiry and report against her conducted by the Block Development Officer and the District Panchayat Officer.
