Eight foreign tourists who were stranded in Pin valley of Lahaul-Spiti district due to formation of an artificial lake and landslides have been safely evacuated and airlifted.

The spokesman said that Government would ensure essential commodities including LPG and kerosene in the affected area on priority. Medics had also been sent and district administration has also send a team of officers to the affected area to take stock of the situation.

He said that a ropeway would soon be constructed to facilitate the people of the area and efforts were afoot to restore electricity. He said that people should not have any fear of formation of lake as Government was keeping constant eye on it.
