Rakesh Verma has now intensified his campaign for forthcoming assembly election in Chopal segment. He begun his campaign from Jhina, Nanhar panchayts, and today he has intensifying the campaign in Kupvi and other region of Chopal segment too.

Rakesh Verma is the sitting MLA from Theog Constituency where from he has won three times in the last four assembly election, but is now forced to move his base to Chopal as delimitation has added his home segment Balson region in Chopal constituency. He had earlier decided to stay in Theog but with the pressure from his Balson supporters has changed his mind and has announced to fight election from Chopal.

Rakesh Verma started his political career on BJP ticket in 1993 election and defeated Congress stalwart, but in 1998 election he lost to her, however after that he contested as an independent candidate and won in 2003 and 2007 assembly election. Earlier he had given indication to seek BJP ticket, but till now there is no clear final verdict on it.

Despite being an independent candidate, Rakesh Verma is widely credited for developing Theog region and now his supporters believe that his aura and administrative acumen will help to spur the development of Chopal region, which is reeling because of political adversities in the last 30 years. Condition of roads, hospital and other basic immunities are in deplorable state and development stagnation giving him a vital issue for the forthcoming election.
