Congress forms six member committee for MC election

Himachal Pradesh Congress has set up six members committee for the Shimla Municipal Corporation elections. Pradesh Party Chief Kaul Singh Thakur, Leader of the Opposition Vidya Stokes, Union Ministers Virbhadra Singh and Anand Sharma, MLA from Kusumpti Sohan Lal and former MLA Harbhajan Singh are members of the committee.
MC election is scheduled on 27 May and till now party has failed to announce its candidates for Mayor, Deputy Mayor and councillors. Newly formed committee will have difficult time to choose its candidates as till now 11 candidates has applied for party ticket for Mayor seat and 9 applications has turned up for Deputy Mayor seat, whereas about 115 applications has come for 25 wards.
General Secretary of the party Kuldeep Rathore said that the committee would finalise the candidates for 25 wards and the posts of Mayor and Deputy Mayor by May 6.
