Annual Red Cross Mela would be held on 9th June, 2012 at Shimla, as was decided in the meeting of Himachal Pradesh Red Cross Hospital Welfare Section held here today. Vice Chairperson Madhu Bindal of the Himachal Pradesh Red Cross Hospital Welfare Section presided over the meeting.
She said that World Red Cross Day falling on 8th May, 2012 would also be celebrated with enthusiasm. Mallika Nadda, Member of the Hospital Welfare Section suggested that efforts should be made for generating income during the mela by inviting ITBP, Army and State Industries Department to set up their stalls. Besides other non governmental organizations and government departments would also be asked to set up their stalls. The income generated thereby would be utilized for helping the poor and needy.
Secretary, Red Cross Society Nirta Akre called upon the members of the Section to come forward to help the needy patients by visiting various hospitals of the State. It was decided to increase the honorarium of four volunteers working in the Section from Rs. 5000 to Rs. 10,000. Office bearers of the Section also attended the meeting.
