Governor Urmila Singh inaugurated the Annual Red Cross Mela-2011 organised by Himachal Pradesh Red Cross Hospital Welfare Section, Shimla here today. Governor lauded the role of Red Cross Society, which was rendering yeoman service towards the cause of suffering humanity. She stressed upon the need to expand the activities of Red Cross in rural areas of the State. She also appealed to the people to donate liberally towards Red Cross Societies.

A colourful cultural programme was also presented by the artistes of Information and Public Relations Department and AIDS Control Society, Shimla. Mallika Nadda, Member of the Section welcomed the Governor on the occasion.

Earlier, Governor also visited the stalls put up by various departments, organizations and association.

Director General of Police Dr. D.S. Manhas, Chief Information Commissioner Bhim Sen, Secretary to Governor Anita Tegta, S.P., Shimla Sonal Agnihotri, office bearers of Managing Committee of Indian Red Cross Society, Members and office bearers of H.P. Red Cross Hospital Welfare Section were also present on the occasion.
