Lossar, Kyoto, kyomo,Hansa villages of Lossar panchayat in Spiti, are facing acute shortage of food grains and other necessary items of livelihoods. This situation has arisen in the wake of closure of KAZA-LOSSAR road for the last 4 months due to heavy snowfall. Pradhan Champa Dolma of Lossar panchayat has accused the PWD Department and local administration of their lackadaisical attitude towards opening of the road. She said that 20 kms., of snow has still to be cleared by the PWD. She also told that these villages are situated at the height of 14000 feet and people are suffering from cold conditions and they need immediate supply of rice, atta, pulses, kerosene and gas. According to sources, Pin valley of the Spiti is also still cut off from the Kaza headquarter and people are compelled to walk 20 kms., on foot to reach Kaza. When contacted XEN Rajneesh Behl, he told that despite hardships serious efforts are being made to open the link roads in Spiti.
