Kishori Lal (46), a resident of Palampur was found hanging from a pipe of a bathroom with his shirt in a police lock-up. Kishori Lal was arrested by the police for the temple theft case at Seri in Jogindernagar on the night of Sunday.
Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mandi has ordered a judicial inquiry into the death. After the news of custodial death Judicial Magistrate at Mandi Rajesh Chauhan rushed to the spot for inquiry and a police team led by IG, Central Range, JR Thakur also visited the spot for the inquiry. The judicial team took forensic evidence, and custody of the body and also videography of the lock-up room.
Police claims that Kishori Lal allegedly hanged himself, whereas relatives of the accused suspecting foul play by the police. Post-mortem report is yet to received and now judicial team is looking into the case.
