The historic Shirgul temple of Shaya village on the Rajgarh-Habban road in Sirmour district, famous as the birthplace of a local deity Maharaj Shirgul, was gutted in a massive fire which erupted last evening on the temple premises.
The fire was first noticed by temple priest Prithvi Raj around 11 pm. He raised an alarm after which villagers gathered and tried to douse the fire.
The temple were completely burnt and metal idols, were disfigured in the fire.
