Three days long 15th convention of Post Graduate students of dentistry concluded here in Manali on Saturday. The Health Minister Dr. Rajeev Bindal presided over the function and Dr, Kohli Padma Bhushan was the Guest of Honour. This convention of IOS was jointly organised by Indian Orthodontic Society and Himachal Dental College Sundernagar. While addressing the convention Minister said that there is acute shortage of Dental PGs in Himachal and Dental Council of India should consider over our proposal sympathetically and on top priority. He said that in order to improve the health conditions of the people in Himachal govt has decided to open three more medical colleges at Mandi, Shimla and Solan. Number of seats of PG courses in IGMC Shimla has been increased to 81 and 35 in Tanda Medical College and hundred seats of MBBS in IGMC. DR. Bindal said that state is targeting to produce 500 MBBS and 200 PG doctors every year. Member Dental Council of India Dr. Anil Kohli said that such conventions, seminars and conferences should be organised from time to time in order to apprise students of latest techniques, grading of orthodontic programs, marketing of orthodontics specially designed. Special guest present local MLA Gobind Thakur released the souvenir published on the occasion. Prominent personalities present were president IOS NK Ahuja and President organising committee Dr Anil Singla.
