Chamba celebrates 66th Himachal Day with great enthusiasm and fervor. Brij Bihari Lal Butail, Speaker, Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha presided over the district level function held at Chamba. He unfurled the National Flag and took salute at an impressive march past presented by Police, home guard and NCC cadets. A colourful cultural programme was also held on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Butail said that the State Government was committed towards the welfare of the weaker sections of the society. He said that the State Government has enhanced social security pension form Rs 450 to Rs 500. He said that out of the total 283 panchayats in Chamba district, 228 have been connected by roads. He said that free travelling facility was being provided to the mothers and new born baby from hospital to their residence under ‘Janani Suraksha Yojana’. He said that the State Government has also decided to recruit at least 20 per cent women at Constable and Sub Inspector level in the Police Department. He said that 63199 families have been provided employment under the Mahatma Gandhi Rashtriya Rogzar Guarantee Yojana by spending an amount of Rs 62 crore.
Asha Kumari, MLA, Sandeep Kadam, Deputy Commissioner, and other senior officers, Freedom Fighters, Ex-Servicemen and prominent persons of the area were present on the occasion.
At Lahaul Spiti, Bir Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Lahaul Spiti presided over the district level function held at Keylong and Lahaul Spiti district. He unfurled the National Flag and took salute at an impressive march past presented by Police, home guard and NCC cadets.
Bir Singh said that the State has emerged as a leader of hill area development in the Country and is a fast growing economy. He said that the tribal district of Lahaul and Spiti was also steadily progressing on the path of progress and prosperity despite harsh topography and climatic conditions.
