Shimla: Principal Secretary, Elections and Chief Electoral Officer, Narender Chauhan apprised that the State National Voters Day would be celebrated at Gaiety Theatre Shimla on 25th January, 2014. He said that the aim of observing this Day was to enhance participation of citizens in the democratic electoral process. Chauhan was addressing a meeting here today organized for reviewing the preparations of the function.

He said that the Election Commission of India has decided to celebrate 25th January its Foundation Day as the National Voters Day every year. He said that the sub theme of the National Voters Day, 2014 was ‘Ethical Voting’.

Chauhan said that State level and District level National Voters Day Function of district Shimla would be organized jointly at Shimla. The voters belonging to polling stations located within the radius of two kilometers of State Headquarters would be felicitated with Electors Photo Identity Cards.
