The annual “Chhari Yatra” or the procession of Lord Shiva’s mace started today from the 1,000-year-old Lakshmi Narayan temple of Chamba to the sacred Manimahesh lake. The ‘Chhari’ will reach the Manimahesh Lake on September 12.
The 16-day-long annual Manimahesh Yatra was began on 28th August and will conclude on September 13 on Radhashtami.
Local administration has made extended arrangements for the devotees. To know the real number of devotees and to provide better facilities to them administration has made registration mandatory.
The state government has allowed two private heli-taxi operators – Bharat Trans and Summit Aviation – to ferry people. For the safety of devotees, the administration has deployed over 450 police and home guard personnel besides 50-member rescue teams on the entire route.
