To oversee the preparations for November 4 Assembly polls, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) V S Sampat is visiting Himachal Pradesh on 7th October.

This would be the first visit of CEC to the state after announcement of poll schedule and he would hold meetings with officials, security forces and representatives of political parties for ensuring free and fair polls.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has asked the state government to remove hoardings displaying achievements of the government and also directed that photographs of ministers be removed from the official website of the government.

The District Returning Officers have been summoned here to apprise the CEC about the preparation of polls in their respective districts, especially the security arrangements and steps to check paid news.
