For the forthcoming assembly poll State Congress has began its process for selection of candidates. To give tickets for the deserving candidates a meeting of the Pradesh Election Committee (PEC) has been convened at New Delhi, where state Congress President Virbhadra Singh and other leaders will hold discussions on recommendations sent by the district Congress committees and block Congress committees. More than 900 people have applied for the tickets.

Congress president Virbhadra Singh, Viplove Thakur, CLP leader Vidya Stokes, former PCC chief Kaul Singh Thakur, AICC general secretary Asha Kumari, CWC member Dhani Ram Shandil, ex-MP Chander Kumar and G S Bali are attending the meeting, whereas Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Anand Sharma won’t be attending the meeting as he is not in the country.

For Congress it’ll be tough job to name final 68 names for the election as more than 900 have applied for the tickets. Only there are six constituencies where only one name has been recommended. These include Kaul Singh Thakur, Vidya Stokes, Sukhwinder Sukhu, Mukesh Angihotri, Harshvardan Chauhan and Surinder Bhardwaj and for another 62 constituencies Congress will have to ponder twice before finalizing candidates.
