Former Excise and Taxation Minister in Virbhadra Singh led Congress Govt Rangila Ram Rao termed the opening of four colleges, ITIs and sub-tehsils in the district an election gimmick.

Reacting to the announcement about the fourth government college at Baldwara in Sarkaghat, Rao said the BJP government did not do anything to improve the condition of roads. He said the Una-Ner Chowk, the Sarkaghat-Ghumarwin and the Jahu-Kalkhar roads were allotted World Bank funds during the previous Congress regime, but looked boulder-littered now.

He said the high court stopped admission on June 30, but the government wanted to start new colleges in school buildings, ruining the future of schoolchildren.
