Himachal Pradesh BJP organised a ‘Thanks Giving’ Rally at Chaura Maidan here today to express gratitude to the Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal for initiating various welfare programmes and carrying out speedy development of the State during last four and half years.

While addressing the thousands of BJP workers, who came from different parts of the Himachal, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal thanked them and said that State Government had carried out uniform and balanced development and implemented most of the poll promises made in the Election Manifesto. He said that a number of schemes, which had no mention in the Manifesto, had also been implemented for the benefit and welfare of people of the State. He said that people of the State were solely the driving force behind all the achievements made by the Government during last four and a half years. He said that sincere efforts had been made to benefit each and every section of the society by rising above political consideration. He said that he was satisfied with the development the State had witnessed during these years which had made Himachal Pradesh a role model of development in the country.

Prof. Dhumal said that BJP was the party of the common man and State Government had also directed all its policies and programmes towards common man so that poorest of the poor was helped to rise and progress in his life. He thanked the people of the State for their overwhelming support and also the employees for implementing the Government’s policies and programmes in the farthest corner of the State to deliver benefits of development to targeted groups.

Chief Minister also announced Grade Pay to the employees of the State Government on the analogy as given by the Punjab Government.

Shanta Kumar, National Vice President, BJP lauded the achievements of the State Government on all fronts and criticised the UPA Government for discriminating Non-Congress Governments. He said that there was no reason BJP would not return to power in coming elections. He highlighted the scams which had taken place under the patronage of UPA Government. He said that the present UPA Government was the most corrupt and added that people had lost confidence in UPA Government

Kalraj Mishr, In-charge Himachal Pradesh BJP also congratulated Prem Kumar Dhumal for many achievements, State had made under his leadership. He said that it was unfortunate that UPA Government which was deeply involved in various multi millions crores rupees scams in the latest being Rs. 1.86 lakh crores coal scam He said that Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) was an independent and constitutional body which had a power to audit the accounts of the Government of India and UPA Government was not accepting the shortcomings it had pointed out in its report.

General Secretary, National BJP J.P. Nadda said that the BJP Government in the State had worked for every section of the society and wiped the tears of poor and aggrieved. He said that every section in the State was fully satisfied with the functioning of the Government. He said that BJP believed in justice to all and the same had been delivered during these years.

Anurag Thakur, MP and National President, BJYM also highlighted the scams of UPA Government. He said that UPA has set record in doing scams which had resulted into price rise affecting commonman to suffer heavily in making their both ends meet with great difficult. He appealed to the people to support BJP keeping in view the achievements, development and welfare activities performed during four and half years.

Former cricketer and BJP MP Navjot Singh Sidhu also addressed the rally in the middle of the rain, which caused inconvenience and some disruption. Even so, his speech held the audience. He blamed centre’s Congress Govt for the corruption. He sarcastically said that once India called as Golden Bird, but in Congress regime has made it a Sonia Bird. He also targeted newly appointed Congress president Virbhadra Singh. He urged Himachali voters to support BJP candidates in the forthcoming poll and promised them clean governance.

Ram Lal, Organising Secretary, National BJP, Satpal Singh Satti, State BJP President, Shyam Jaju, Co-Incharge Himachal Pradesh BJP, Ministers of the State Cabinet, Members of Parliament, MLAs, former MLAs, Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of various Boards and Corporations, party office bearers of the State and District Organizations and people in large number were present on the occasion.
