Thakur Gulab Singh, Public Works Minister said here today that the State Government has decided to fill-up all the vacant posts of different categories in the public Works Department on priority for smooth functioning of the department, besides removing stagnation amongst different cadres.

Thakur Gulab Singh said that recently 44 diploma-holder Junior Engineers were being promoted as SDOs and would be posted in different parts of the State against vacant posts. He said that last year 65 Junior Engineers were promoted as Assistant Engineers (SDOs) and were posted in different parts of the State. He said that this decision of the State Government has provided relief to the serving diploma engineers of the department. He said that directions have also been given to fill up the vacant post of Superintendent Engineers and Executive Engineers through promotion on priority for which DPC would be held at the earliest.

He said that other vacant posts of Junior Engineers would also filled on priority by promotion form Inspector, Work Inspectors and other feeder categories according to the laid down ratio.

Public Works Minister said that recently 10 posts of SDOs would be filled directly by the State Public Service Commission. He said that approval has also been accorded to fill 100 posts of Junior Engineers through direct recruitment by the State Subordinate Services Selection Board. He said that this would not only provide employment opportunities to the educated unemployed youth of the State but also help in efficient and smooth functioning of the department.

He said that vacant post of Work Inspectors, Road Inspectors and other Staff in the department would also be filled up on priority through promotion. He said that instructions have been issued to post ‘Beldars’ against the vacant posts of Inspectors as per their qualification and seniority.

Thakur Gulab Singh said that as per the policy of the State Government, all the daily wage ‘Beldars’ and other categories, who have completed 8 years of regular services were being regularized. He said that necessary directions in this regard had been issued to all the Zonal Chief Engineers and Superintending Engineer in the State.
