Public Works Minister Thakur Gulab Singh ensures that Mehatpur-Una- Amb road will complete by February next year. This road is build up with the expense of Rs 126.50 crore. Minister was attending the meeting with the senior officers of the Public Works Department to review the progress in works on various road projects being executed under the State Road Project. Thakur Gulab Singh said that State Government is committed towards time bound completion of the roads being executed under the Project. He said that 45 kms. Una-Barsar road will be completed by July next year. He said that target has been fixed to complete Barsar-Jahu road by September next. He said that Infrastructure Road Development Corporation has been entrusted the responsibility for ensuring their timely completion, besides ensuring quality control.

Public Works Minister said that the State Government is providing high priority to the development and maintenance of roads in the State. He said that development of important sectors of economy such as Agriculture, Horticulture, Industries, Forestry etc. depends upon efficient road network. He said that this project will provide a big change in the flow pattern of traffic of these upgraded roads, besides providing relief to the road users in the area.

Thakur Gulab Singh directed the officers of the department to ensure effective cross-drainage and side drainage along-side these roads. He said that sign boards should also be displayed at construction sites to ensure safety of people. To check the soil erosion wall should be constructed along side so it can check it. Taking on the Theog-Kotkhai-Hatkoti-Rohru, Public Works Minister said that maintenance and upgradation work on 80.68 kms long road is also being expedited keeping in view the apple season. He said that maximum stress was being laid on maintenance of this road as flow of traffic will increase manifold during the apple season. He directed the officers of the Department to frequently monitor the progress of maintenance of this road.
