The Project sanctioning Committee headed by Rudra Gangadharan, Secretary, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India, New Delhi has approved a dairy development project of Rs. 8.67 crore for Himachal Pradesh that will be implemented in the districts of Hamirpur, Solan and Kinnaur of Himachal Pradesh. Each district will get Rs. 2.90 crore for dairy development activities.

ecretary, Animal Husbandry Ram Subhag Singh has earlier briefed the project Sanctioning Committee members of GOI regarding the progress made by Himachal Pradesh in the field of dairy development. He said that in the approved dairy development project, a dairy plant of 5000 litres per day capacity each amounting to Rs. 1.50 crore would be set up at Rekong Peo in district Kinnaur, Jangelberi in Hamirpur district and Nalagarh in Solan district. The funds for setting up of Cattle Feed Plant, Bhoranj, district Hamirpur amounting to Rs. 87 lacs has also been approved. Six Bulk Milk Cooling Units of 500 litres capacity has also been approved in the project. In addition to above, 50% subsidy for purchase of milch animals by 300 SC & ST families has also been approved, with maximum limit of Rs. 15,000 in each case. It will encourage the dairy development activities in the State of Himachal Pradesh and milk producers would be benefited. The project will provide direct and indirect employment to the milk producers and others.
