Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal gave away prizes to the outstanding students of Indira Gandhi Medical College on the closing ceremony of annual function Stimulus-2012 and Prize Distribution Function organized in Atal Sabhagar in the college campus here last evening.
Addressing on the occasion, Chief Minister said that that the present Government had made a history by creating a number of facilities and providing latest equipments in Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla and Dr. Rajendra Prasad Medical College, Tanda in last four years. He appreciated the efforts being put in by the doctors in delivering quality services to the patients. He reiterated the resolve of the State Government to provide best health-care services to the people and added that a number of ambitious schemes had been implemented to achieve the objective.
Dr. S.S. Kaushal, Principal, IGMC thanked the Chief Minister for his liberal financial assistance to upgrade infrastructural facilities in the college. He said that 750 open heart surgeries had been conducted in IGMC during past four years besides spending crores of rupees for providing latest machinery and equipments in the hospital.
Dr. Rajesh Kashyap, General Secretary of Medical Teachers Association also thanked the Chief Minister for enhancing superannuation age of medical teachers. Dr. Abhinav Gautam, read the Annual Report on the occasion. A variety cultural programme was presented by medicos to mark the occasion.
Dr. Rajiv Bindal, Health Minister, Suresh Bhardwaj, MLA, Dr. Jaishree Sharma, Director of Medical Education, Dr. K.S.Rana, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Kapil Mohan Chauhan, President, Central Students Association, other senior medical fraternity and prominent people of the town were present on the occasion.
