Ashok Purohit, Chairman, H.P. Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board said that Board will organize awareness camps for registration of workers under National Health Insurance Scheme engaged in construction works in different places of the State and they will be encouraged to include under the fold of the scheme. Purohit was presiding over the 7th meeting of the Board here today.
Purohit called upon the labour officers, representatives of under construction projects and others to ensure that most of the workers could be registered with the Board so that workers e benefited of various welfare schemes of the Government. He also urged the trade unions to register the workers associated with the Unions. He said that officers should also attend the Board meeting regularly so that problems of the workers could be solved.
He said that the Board had collected Rs. 74.46 crore as cess so far and added that funds so collected were utilized for providing financial assistance to the beneficiaries. He said that the Board had not been getting expected cess from the private companies which were a matter of concern for us. He also directed the officers of Labour Department to ensure regular inspection of under construction projects. He said that Board would urge the Government that the workers working under Mahatma Gandhi Rastriya Rojgar Guarantee Act would be registered with the Board. He said that various welfare schemes were being implemented for the workers engaged in construction works in the State. He also urged the workers to avail the benefits of National Health Insurance Scheme and Janshri Bima Yojna as well. He said that 37,000 workers would be registered by the Board.
Harinder Hira, Additional Chief Secretary, Industries, Labour and Employment said that workers engaged in construction works should be registered in large number to take benefit under National Health Insurance Scheme. She said that the scheme being implemented by the Government was providing financial assistance to tune of Rs. 1.75 lakh for serious diseases for medical treatment.
Labour Commissioner Mohan Chauhan detailed out the activities undertaken by the Board on the occasion. S.K. Kaushal, Secretary of Board presented vote of thanks. R.K.
