Shimla: Taking a serious note of the incident of contaminating of water tank in Government Senior Secondary School Kakkadhatti in district Solan by some mischievous elements, Irrigation and Public Health Ministers Vidya Stokes called a meeting of senior officers of I&PH, Home and Police departments, and ensured safety and cleaning of water tanks.

Sanjay Kumar, Director General of Police apprised the Minister that FIR has been lodged and investigation was going on in the matter.

Chief Engineer RM Mukul informed the Minister that the water tank was empty on 28th September, 2016 on account of cleaning and water was not supplied. He said that officers of the department inspected the tanks of the school besides the tank from which water was supplied to the adjacent village and added that water supply from the tank was stopped till the investigation was completed by the local police. He said that Executive Engineer Arki also inspected the water supply scheme along with local panchayat Pradhan and directed the Junior Engineer to submit a report after getting water samples tested.

Irrigation and Public Health Minister directed the officers of the Department to strictly monitor the safety of water tanks and no such incidents should happen which can pose threat to the lives of the people. She also asked the officers to ensure regular cleaning of the tanks to maintain the quality of drinking water. She said that the matter was also being discussed with the Chief Minister.

Vidya Stokes directed the police department to investigate the matter speedily and take strict action against the guilty. She said that every effort should be made to nab the miscreants at the earliest.
