Himachali author Ashok K Mohapatra written book ‘My Afternoon Poems’was released at the India International Centre, New Delhi by Jagmohan, former Governor and Union Minister.
Ashok K Mohapatra was Himachal cadre IAS officer who retired as Secy shipping Govt of India after working with Govt of Himachal and India on the various capacities.
G.B Patnaik, Former Chief Justice of India, Anang Patnaik, Supreme Court Judge Judge, Satyanand Mishra, Chief Information Commissioner of India, B.B Tondon, former Chief Election Commissioner of India, Dr. V.P. Tiwari, President of Sahitya Academy of India, S.Y. Quraishi and many senior civil Servants and Police and Army Officers were also present on the occasion.
A.K. Mohapatra read out some of his poems. The poems are metaphysical in character and dwell on the philosophical aspects of life. While speaking about his book, author revealed that he wrote these poems in his fifties when he entered into “afternoon of his life” and hence the book was named thus. The book contains total 101 poems written in a period of over 10 years in the last years of his carrier.
Jagmohan while commending the poems compared some of them with the thoughts of Saint Kabir, Nirala and some other towering Urdu poets. Dr. V.P. Tiwari President of Sahitya Academy of India said that this anthology steered in the philosophical traditions of India is noticeable a new trend in Indian literature.
