Before assembly election BJP Govt can announce its plan to divide Kangra district. IPH Minister Ravinder Singh Ravi indicated it as he said that Govt will take a decision on carving out three districts from Kangra district after reviewing the report of the committee constituted for the purpose.

A committee headed by BJP state Chief Satpal Satti has been constituted to prepare a report on the issue. Minister also said that it is economically viable and State Govt is able enough to generate funds for the administrative set up for the new districts. Kangra is vast in size and it becomes difficult for administrative officials to review the implementation of government schemes in each part of the district”, he said.

Politically important Kangra district has 16 assembly seats and if believes rumors BJP Govt is planning to divide it into four parts. There has been long pending demands for creating three districts by disintegrating Kangra, and keeping the fact in mind the issue was discussed in the recent core group meeting of BJP. Residents of Palampur, Dehra and Nurpur, too, have demanded a district status.
