Anil Bhattacharya, Director, National Saving Institute, Minister of Finance, Government of India, Nagpur, reviewed the progress of Small Savings in Himachal Pradesh during his recent visit to the State. He said that Rs.2313.97cr had been amassed under small savings till October last year whereas Rs.1979.88cr was collected during the corresponding period this year. He said that the decision had been taken by Union Government to increase the interest from 20 to 145 basis point on savings due to which the increase in savings was expected in remaining period of this financial year.

He also met Dr. Shrikant Baldi, Principal Secretary, Finance and Chief Postmaster General (CPG) and discussed various issues relating to small savings and assured cooperation for various training programmes.
