Transport, Urban Development and Town & Country Planning Minister Mahender Singh Thakur said that he had been misquoted regarding benami land deals in his interaction with the mediapersons at Solan.

Thakur said that while referring to land deals in Solan, he only meant that land deals were taking place between the land owners and buyers on an individual level. He added that such deals were not registered with the Government and the Govt., was not being provided any information regarding such deals.

Transport Minister said that the State Government has ordered an inquiry into all the benami deals under Section 118 of Land Tenancy Act. He further said that a commission under the Chairmanship of retired Judge of Himachal Pradesh High Court had been set up to look into benami deals. Minister added that the State Government is committed to curb such benami deals.
