Following the heavy rains, rivers in state are in spate. Official said that people living near the banks have been warned. Continuous rainfall has abnormally increased the water level in the Satluj River. Its flow is more than 1,200 cusecs against the normal flow of 400 to 600 cusecs. The water level of the Beas has also risen.

Meanwhile, two major hydropower plants in Kinnaur district remained closed for a second day due to the silt. Nathpa Jhakri power project and Karcham Wangtoo hydroelectric project remained closed as well. However, 300 MW Baspa hydropower project start today after the level of silt came down.
