Shimla-based Indira Gandhi Medical College can’t seem to stay away from controversies. Tainted often for poor medical facilities and lack of doctors, the Medical College is now under scanner for awarding a MBBS degree to medical student living in the USA, who hasn’t completed his internship at the college. It is mandatory for every medical student to complete 6 months or a year of internship at IGMC before he can be awarded the degree. However, according to information received by the vigilance department, the suspected doctor has been residing in US all the while and hasn’t completed an internship program at the college thus, shouldn’t have been awarded the degree. Vigilance has asked IGMC for an explanation.
