There is unique opportunity for the budding cricketers of Himachal Pradesh as Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is looking out for raw bowling talent in Himachal Pradesh for domestic matches. Young cricketers will be picked up from the age group of 17 to 22 years and especially who have not played any of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) tournament. These trials are being conducted for both pacers and spinners will be further sent to the Indian cricket board’s (BCCI) academies in Mumbai, Chennai and Mohali.
Stating this BCCI joint-secretary and the President of Himachal Pradesh cricket Anurag Thakur said “There are bowlers in remote areas who don’t get the opportunity to showcase their talents, and this is where the trials will help. It is indeed a golden opportunity for all the players in the state of Himachal Pradesh to come and participate in these trials. It would be a dream come true for many talented players who don’t get an opportunity to come forth and get noticed,”
Former Indian coach and current director of National Cricket Academy Sandip Patil and Karsan Ghavri and Joginder Puri will judge the bowlers at the HPCA’s stadium in Dharamsala at February 18 and 19.
This is for the first time that the BCCI is coming to the state to shortlist grassroots talent. The HPCA recently got approval for hosting one-day internationals and Twenty20 matches in its Dharamsala stadium.
