Chief Minister dedicated 60 meter long bridge over Kholi khad at Tatawani village in Shahpur area of Kangra district. Bridge was constructed at a cost of Rs. 1.67 crore. During the ceremony Chief Minister said that in the last four years state Government had constructed 447 kilometers new roads, 1047 kilometers cross drainage and 61 bridges in Kangra district besides tarring work of 915 kms roads.
Chief Minister said that connecting every village and panchayat with roads was on the priority agenda of the present State Government. He said that out of 656 panchayats of Kangra district, 654 had been connected with roads during last four years and out of 3182 villages of the district, 2413 had been provided connectivity with roads. He said that Rs. 300 crore had been spent on construction of 167 projects under NABARD and PMGSY. He said that 57 kms., new roads and nine bridges had been constructed in Shahpur assembly segment during last four years. He said that Rs. 22 crore had been spent under NABARD and PMGSY schemes in the area in addition to normal budget provisions of the State. He said that 54 panchayats out of 55 had been provided road connectivity including 170 habitations.
Earlier Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Sarveen Chaudhary, and local MLA welcomed the Chief Minister. She thanked the Chief Minister for providing liberal financial assistance for construction of roads and bridges in the area. Dr. Gautam Vyathit, Chairman, Kangra Lok Parishad detailed out the activities of the Parishad.
Public Works Minister Gulab Singh Thakur, Dr. Rajeev Bindal, Health Minister, Dile Ram, Tejwant Negi, MLAs, Dr. Arun Kumar Sharma, Director, Tourism and Civil Aviation, N.L. Sharma, Chief Engineer, R.S. Gupta, Deputy Commissioner, Diljeet Thakur, S.P, senior officers and prominent persons of the area were also present on the occasion.
