Director, Tourism Subhashish Panda stated that Outlook Traveller website has adjudged Dalhousie as the ‘Favourite Hill Destination’ of the country. The award will be presented to the State on 24th January, 2013 at New Delhi.

Panda said that 1.61 crore tourists visited Himachal Pradesh in the year 2012 which was about 7 percent higher than the preceding year. Out of this, five lakh tourists were foreigners and 1.56 crore tourists were domestic. He said that concerted efforts were being made for developing tourist infrastructure in the state. Wayside amenities were being developed along highways and new civic amenities were being provided at tourist places along with up gradation of existing facilities, he added.
