An MoU was signed between the State Handicraft and Handloom Corporation and Karnataka State Handicraft Development Corporation at Bengaluru last evening for the promotion of the handicraft and handloom products of the State. MoU was signed by Lalit Mohan, MD, State Handicraft and Handloom Corporation, Himachal Pradesh on behalf of the State Government and A.K. Singh, MD, State Handicraft Development Corporation, Karnataka on behalf of Karnataka Government in the presence of Kishan Kapoor, Industries Minister and Lalita Rani, Chairperson, Karnataka State Handicraft Development Corporation. According to MoU, sale counter will be allotted for handicraft and handloom products of the State at Kaveri Emporium, Bengaluru.
On this occasion, Kishan Kapoor said that use of traditional handicraft and handloom products of the State would be popularised and sales would be boosted with the opening of this centre. He said that annual turnover of Kaveri Emporium was Rs. 15 lakh, which was expected to go upto Rs. 60 lakh after the opening of sale counter of Himachali handicrafts.
Kapoor said that the State Government was endeavouring to set up such sale counters in other parts of the country as well. He said that efforts were also afoot to set up a sale centre in Mysore. He said that through showcasing the traditional handicraft through these outlets would not only add to the turnover of the Corporation but also attract tourists to the State.
