Himachal Pradesh High Court issued notice to Chief Engineer National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) over ‘pitiable’ condition of Shimla-Narkanda road. A division bench comprising Chief justice Kurian Joseph and Justice Sanjay Karol directed Chief Engineer NHAI to file affidavit after himself traveling on the Shimla-Narkanda road or deputing an officer to do so for identifying the problems there. The court also impleaded the Chief Engineer as party in the case after it was mentioned in the court that National Highway portion between Shimla and Narkanda was worst and it was really difficult of admit that the ‘road actually exists in its name’. The road is also important not alone for strategic point of view, but also tourism and apple economy of the area.
