The biggest cricket tournament of world concludes today. World XI Una defeated Rattan Jeweller Mandi in the Finals of Himachal Cricket Mahasangram-II, T-20 cricket tournament which concludes at HPCA stadium at Dharamsala. This tournament has been claimed to be the biggest cricket tournament in World (for Number of Teams). Total 1406 teams participated in the tournament this year, which was organized by the Himachal cricket association for the cricket teams off Himachal Pradesh only.

The second edition of the Himachal T-20 ‘Mahasangram’, a local version of Twenty20 league started on 29th November 2010 in Himachal Pradesh from the remote area of Kinnaur. The inaugural matches were played at Kalpa (in Kinnaur district), Dharamshala (in Kangra district), Nadaun (in Hamirpur district), Kullu and Bilaspur.

Nearly 19,000 players shown their cricketing skills in the tournament in around 2,000 matches, played in 72 grounds in the state. The HPCA have spent around Rs.70 lakh on the tournament. Of this, Rs.30 lakh was distributed as cash prizes to the winners. Last year, 14,300 players from 1,017 teams participated in the tournament and matches were played at 60 places. Cash prizes of about Rs.30 lakh were distributed among the teams and the players.
