Himachal Pradesh was submerged in elation today, as the State celebrated its 40th anniversary of statehood. A Statehood Day function was organised at Hamirpur to mark the occasion where Chief Minister Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal unfurled the National flag. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dhumal emphasized on the phenomenal progress the state has made in last 40 years in all areas of development. Adding further the Chief Minister announced release of 10 percent dearness allowance (DA) to its employees and pensioners from first July, 2010, which, he said, the employees will get in cash from January, 2011 and arrears on this account would be credited in GPF of concerned employees. The occasion was also marked with CM’s announcement of setting up of most modern market yard in lower areas of Himachal Pradesh to benefit farmers and fruit growers. Emphasizing on state’s per capita income the CM informed that the per capita income of the state has grown tremendously from Rs 651 in 1971, when it attained statehood, to Rs 49,211 in 2011.
