A two-day-long Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) workshop on apples, which began at Thanedhar, Kotgarh focussed on adopting new techniques, water conservation and using better planting material to improve quality and yield to meet international competition.

Director (Horticulture) Gurdev Singh recalled that the late Satyanand Stokes had pioneered in introducing commercial production of apple as a cash crop from Kotgarh. But now climate change and global warming has had an impact in the fruit producing belts of the state.
